This is a 1963 Silvertone electric guitar made by Danelectro. The guitar has a black sparkle finish and is part of the amp-in-case line but does NOT include the amp-in-case. It has two lipstick pickups and a Brazilian rosewood fretboard. The 1449 has a slightly different pick-guard and is far more rare than the 1457, it's cousin. This model was only offered for one year: 1963; after that the model was modified slightly and only available in red. The serial number for this guitar is: 5103. So it was made in the 51st week of 1963.Description from VintageSilvertones.com
The guitar is in very good condition. It is 100% original. Although one screw on the bridge may have been replaced but it's hard to tell. The bridge pickup has a small crack. It does not affect the sound. There are a few nicks/scratches. As you can see in the photos there's some playing wear on the neck but it's pretty minor. This guitar looks like it did not see much playing over the last 44 years. All the electronics work properly and the neck is straight. The action is set medium fast. Both pickups have a bit of a twangy tone with the bridge being bright and the neck on the full/rich side. Personally, I like this one in the middle position with a both pickups going. If you're a player you'll love this one right out of the box and it will make a nice collectable also. The guitar comes with the original case.
