This Kapa CH6 Challenger is a very clean, mid-1960's sunburst, hollow body electric guitar. It is 100% original. The serial number is 23xxx. It features two pickups with one volume and one tone control for each. The Challenger guitar is relatively light but still has a full bodied sound. It plays and sounds great. Kapa guitars guitars were made from the early 1960s through 1970 in Hyattsville Maryland, USA. This guitar's parts were most likely made in the US, Japan (and possibly Germany Kapa use Hofner parts.) and then assembled in the US. The Challenger hollow body models are fairly rare. They appear to be the precursor to the Kapa 500 series which was largley or possibly entirely Japanese made. The Challenger models have both rounded and pointed double cutaways.Description from VintageSilvertones.com
This Kapa Challenger's body is overall very clean but it does have some very minor dulling to the front of the body, some crazing (finish cracks) on the back and some minor scratches on the back. The body is fully bound. It has a 3-ply black pickguard and black, plastic knobs. The adjustable wooden bridge appears to be rosewood and there's a fixed, chrome-plated tailpiece.Description from VintageSilvertones.com
The neck is straight with almost no playing wear on the back, fretboard. or frets. It is a bolt-on neck with 23 frets, zero-fret, plastic nut, and adjustable truss rod. It has circular silver tinted "mother of pearl" inlays in the fretboard. The action is set medium. The six-inline, open back tuners are in proper working condition. The headstock has a Kapa decal logo with "Made in U.S.A" on it.Description from VintageSilvertones.com
All the electronics work properly. The double-coil pickups are strong with six adjustable poles. They have a nice tonal range which is on the brighter side and sound very clean like humbuckers. Each pickup has it's own tone and volume controls. There's a toggle switch to select between neck, bridge or both pickups. It comes with a good quality gig bag and will be packed extremely well.Description from VintageSilvertones.com
