This is a rare Silvertone Espanada, archtop electric guitar made by Harmony of Chicago in 1956. The Harmony model number is H63. It is a thick, hollowbody, single cutaway with a laminated spruce top and maple back, black polished finish, wide fluted Harmometal binding, two single coil pickups with clear white surrounds, a white heavy molded, raised pickguard, an adjustable wood bridge, chrome plated metal tuning buttons, a metal, fixed tailpiece and an ebonized, maple fingerboard with pearl block inlays. This guitar plays really well and looks great for an instrument that is about sixty years old. The neck is straight with nice fast action and the pickups are clear and potent. This guitar is 100% original. This Espanada is an earlier version with the aluminum binding. It still looks lovely, feels fantastic and sounds superb. It comes with a hard shell case. Don't miss your chance to get this classic!Description from VintageSilvertones.com
This guitar is 100% original. It is in good condition and clean for its age. There are a some minor scratches on the front of the guitar and less on the back of the body. This wear does not go deeper than the finish for the most part. The last half of the metal, Espanada logo on the body is removed but the Harmometal binding is in great shape. This guitar looks fanstastic, plays beautifully and sounds great!
The tuners, opened-back, individual chrome machine-heads with chrome plated buttons are in good working condition. The tuner for the D string is slightly bent but it is barely noticeable and it does not effect the tuning or playability. They are smooth and hold the tuning and intonation well.
The neck is in good shape. It's a bound, straight, glued-on neck with rectangular mother-of-pearl inlays on an ebonized fretboard, 20 frets, and a 25.25" scale. The frets are almost like new with no wear. The paint on the back of the neck has some minor playing wear. The headstock, featuring a raised metal Espanada logo, has some minor wear along the edges. The slim neck is kept straight with adjustable Torque-Lok dual reinforcing rods. The action is fast. The neck and the frets feel fantastic under your fingers.
The two metal, single coil pickups with clear, white surrounds are very clean, strong and bright. The pickups look a little aged. The neck pickup is full and strong sounding, good for jazz, folk, blues, soul and rock. The bridge pickup is a little quieter than the neck but it has a nice rich, full, twang sound perfect for country, funk, rock and more. There is a volume and a tone knob for each pickup and a three way selector on a white diamond shaped mount to choose the neck, bridge or both pickups. Using the tone and volume for each pickup and the selector, you can access a wide variety of tones sounds suitable for a myriad of musical styles. The pots and toggle sound very clean.
