SILVERTONE 1321/U1
1957

Silvertone 1321 made by Danelectro U1, one pickup, electric guitar, semi-hollow body, bronze tolex covered body with white tolex binding, masonite body, lipstick pickup, made in 1956 This is a rare Silvertone 1321 (Danelectro model: U1), "peanut" (smaller body) electric guitar. It is a semi-hollowbody, Masonite over pine construction with a bronze finish, ivory vinyl binding, one lipstick tube-style pickup, a four way adjustable, unplated, light weight aluminum bridge with a Brazilian rosewood saddle, a metal nut, a clear plastic pickaguard, a Coke-bottle headstock, and original white plastic strap buttons. It was made by Danelectro in Neptune, New Jersey around 1957 and it is in great playing condition especially for an axe that is about sixty year old! The neck is straight with nice fast action and the pickups are as clear and strong as they were perhaps in 1957. This guitar is 100% original. It has taken on some age during its approximately 60 years but that gives it an authentic, stylish classic look that some manufacturers attempt to create artificially. It looks and sounds really rocking and the fretboard feels fastastic on your fingers. Like fine wine, you can feel and hear the maturity of this instrument. It comes with an original soft case gig bag. Get this classic before someone else does!Description from VintageSilvertones.com

CONDITION:
This guitar is 100% original. It is in good condition for its age. It definitely has some wear from its approximately 60 years of use but that give this guitar a lot of character. There is some paint wear right below the pickguard and below the bridge. You can also see finish wear at the lower bass bout and a few other places. As you can see in the image, there is some pitting in the paint here and there. The binding has also taken on some wear over the years, but it is quite intact. With its natural aging, this guitar looks really cool, plays beautifully and sounds great!

TUNERS:
The tuners, opened-back, 3x2's with plastic buttons are in good working condition. They are smooth and stay in tune.

NECK:
It has a straight, bolt-on neck with dot inlays on a Brazilian rosewood fretboard, 21 frets, and a 25" scale. The top few frets show a little wear but it does not effect the neck's playability. The paint on the back of the neck has some playing wear. The Coke-bottle headstock, featuring the horizontal silkscreened logo, is pretty clean but has some very minor wear. The neck is kept straight with 2 steel rods and the action is fast. The neck and the frets feel fastastic under your fingers. Description from VintageSilvertones.com

PICKUPS:
Its one single coil, lipstick tube-style pickup is very clean, strong and bright. Using the tone pot and the toggle gets you a variety of bright to warm tones suitable for a myriad of musical styles. There are two knobs, one tone and one volume. The three-way toggle switch is for tone control, tone kill and tone setting. All of the electronics work properly.
