SILVERTONE MODEL: 1460L2
VALUE LEADER- KAY
circa 1960

Silvertone kay 1460 Value Leader electric guitar, 2 pu 1960This is an early 1960's Silvertone made by Kay of Chicago. It is very similar to the Kay 1962 model in that it is a slim, semi-solid guitar featuring a crack-proof laminated maple top and a slim, steel reinforced neck. The body shape and the trapeze style nickel plated fixed tailpiece are also the same. The Silvertone 1460 model has a rosewood fingerboard and bridge, a white plastic strap pin at the bottom and a uniquely designed plastic pickguard instead of the chrome one featured by the 1962, on which the volume and tone knobs and pickup selection switch are mounted. This guitar has a beautiful black finish that has held up nicely after 55 years. It is 100% original and in good condition. The fast action feels good on the fingers and the tone, combining electric and acoustic elements, is fantastic. This light weight guitar is balanced perfectly for comfortable playing and the short scale is fantastic for faster fingering. Don't miss getting your hands on this stunning beauty.VintageSilvertones.com

CONDITION:Description from VintageSilvertones.com
This guitar is 100% original and in good condition. Although there is some crazing to the finish, there are no major dings. The very bottom tip of the pickguard is chipped off and a small bit of white paint detail was applied for cosmetic purposes sometime in the guitar's long history.

TUNERS:Description from VintageSilvertones.com

NECK:Description from VintageSilvertones.com
Bolt-on, straight neck with 18 frets, and a 24.25" scale. Frets are in fine condition and the action is fast. The frets and fretboard feels fantastic under your fingers. The logo'd headstock has some slight paint wear on the edges. There is a slight hairline split near the tuners, as you can see in the photograph, which had no effect on the tuning, sound and playability. The neck is kept straight with a steel rod.

PICKUPS:Description from VintageSilvertones.com
Two amazing sounding single coil pickups. The neck pickup has a warm, clean, round tone great for jazz and heavy rock. The bridge pickup has a clean tight tone good for rock, soul and blues. Both pickups adjusted properly give the player countless possibilites. There is a tone and volume pot for each pickup and a switch to toggle between the neck, bridge and both pickups. All electronics work properly.
