Silvertone 1357 made by Danelectro U1, one pickup, electric guitar, semi-hollow body, ginger vinyl finish tan vinyl binding, masonite body, lipstick pickup, made in 1956 This is a rare Silvertone 1357 (Danelectro model: U1), "peanut" (smaller body), single cutaway electric guitar. It is a semi-hollowbody, solid-center, Masonite over pine construction with a ginger colored vinyl finish, tan vinyl binding, one lipstick tube-style pickup, a four way adjustable, unplated, light weight aluminum bridge with a Brazilian rosewood saddle, a metal nut, a clear plastic pickguard, a Coke-bottle headstock, two white plastic knobs, and original white plastic strap buttons. It was made by Danelectro in Neptune, New Jersey in 1956 and it is in good playing and collecting condition especially for an axe that is about sixty year old! The neck is straight with nice fast action and the pickups are as clear and potent as they have ever been. This guitar is 100% original. It still looks lovely, feels fantastic and sounds superb. This guitar is 100% original. It is in good condition. There are only a few small spots of wear on the edges of the body, some wear on the edges of the headstock and a few spots of wear on the back of the neck. This guitar looks fanstastic, plays beautifully and sounds great!

The tuners, opened-back, 3x2's with white plastic buttons are in good working condition.

The neck is in good shape. It's a straight, bolt-on neck with white dot inlays on a Brazilian rosewood fretboard, 21 frets, and a 25" scale. The paint on the back of the neck has some finish wear. The Coke-bottle headstock, featuring the horizontal silkscreened logo, has some minor wear along the edges. The neck is kept straight with an aluminum reinforcement rod that extends into the body up to the neck pickup cavity. The action is fast. The neck and the frets feel fantastic under your fingers. One single coil, lipstick tube-style pickup is very clean, strong and bright. Using the tone pot and the toggle you can get a variety of bright to warm sounds suitable for a myriad of musical styles. There are two knobs, one tone and one volume. The three-way toggle switch is for tone control, tone kill and tone setting. The pots and toggle sound very clean.
